The Immigration Advisory Authority was launched by the then Immigration Minister, Clayton Cosgrove, on 5 May 2008 to provide rules for Immigration Advisers. The Immigration Advisers Licensing Act 2007 (“the Act”) requires anyone providing New Zealand immigration advice to be licensed by 4 May 2009. There are very strict confidentiality standards and a detailed code of conduct. Lawyers are exempt from the Act because they are bound by their professional duty to the Law Society, and the Lawyers and Conveyance's Act 2008 and therefore they are able to provide immigration advice to their clients. The contact details of the Immigration Advisers Authority are as follows:
There is a very strict Code of Conduct that Immigration Advisers need to follow and we would encourage you to take a look at this document. At times we refer work to Registered Immigration Advisors. (For further information please contact us on info@legaleagle.co.nz) |
